World Card Making CANADIAN Blog Hop!!!

Hey everyone, today is World Card Making Day and we have a whole lot of Canadian crafters out there!!  To celebrate, a bunch of us got together and created this hop!!  If you just happened upon here, and would like to participate in the hop you start here, with Tara!  If are already participating, you should have arrived here from Roxy!  I have a couple of Christmas cards for you today!  I have been busy trying to get these done, you know, before the snow flies!!  :)  So here is what I have for you to see!

So right off I am going to apologize for the pictures.  A photographer I'm not!!  These were taken in my window sill, so that's why all the white space.  Anyway, this first card is on a 5x5 kraft cardstock base.  I used burgandy paper from Stampin Up and DP is from my local craft store.  I love this paper!!  Note to self: must get more!!  :)  The ribbon is from CTMH, but Stampin Up has it too.  And the button is from my stash.  I used some hemp twine to tie around the ribbon and through the button.  Buttons are not my friends, and I have a really hard time with them, so I was so happy with this!!!  :)

This card is the same, except the base is 5x6, and I used a green button rather than a burgandy one as above.

I think this card is my favourite!!!   It's white 4x6 cardstock, layered with black and silver.  The tree stamp is from "A Tree For All Seasons" from SU.  I used White Perfect Puff to get the "snow" effect.  I also used some stickles on the "ground", but I will use the perfect puff next time.  The sentiment is from the "Holiday Wishes" stamp set from SU.  The snowman was in my stash, not really sure where he came from, but I think he fit this card perfectly!!  Going to have to find more of him!!  :)  I also coloured the snowmans scarves and mitts hanging from the tree in different colours with sharpies.

Another view.  Hopefully you can see the dimension the "perfect puff" gives!!

And, if you're feeling lucky, here is a wee bit of blog candy!!  I have Halloween chip board, "baby" gift trim, dimensional sentiments from Basic Grey, book plates and an assortment of jewels, buttons, and felt shapes from Artsylicious.  So, are you feeling lucky??  Great!!  All you have to do is leave me some love people!!!  You can follow me it you like, but I only want you to follow if you like what you see!!  I will do the draw on the 7th the old fashioned way!!  I will post the winner here, so be sure to check back!!  :)

So that's it!!  Your next stop is Nancy.  Thanks for looking!!  :)

  11. Great cards. Snowmen are my favorite and I really like how you tied that big ribbon with the button. I always shy away from those ribbons.

  22. I love your cards.... a hint for taking the photos.... natural light is great but you want it in front of your card not behind it.... so on a chair in front of the window would be better... or even better, head outside but not in the direct sunlight. You'll get better representation of your colours this way.

  26. Thank you all for the wonderful comments!!! :)

Soesty, you should be able to buy the perfect puff at your local craft or scrapbook store. Or maybe online?? It's a 1oz bottle and you just put a dab on and heat it with your heat tool!!! Pretty cool stuff!! :)
