Home

I have been on a crafty roll lately!!  After making all my Christmas cards I was burned out, but lately I've been wanting to create, so I've been back cruising all the blogs I follow, and finding some new ones!!  Love the inspiration and creativity!!

At Scrapbookers Anonymous they have a challenge called "Maps and Brads", and they are all about using your stash!! Now, I did not have a thing that had anything to do with a map. Enter Google!! I was able to find and print a map of BC, which is the province I live in, and the rest just fell into place!! About 4 years ago we had an aerial pic taken of our house, and it is framed and hanging on our wall, so I took a picture of it, which was quite challenging because it didn't seem to matter where I put it, I kept seeing a reflection of something! Anyway, I decided to do a page about our home, using the map. Here is my page:

I printed the map on vellum paper, so you are still able to see a bit of the background.  I took a piece of sand coloured paper and tore it to try and make it look like mountains, but that still looked boring so then I decided to stamp some trees and animals that you would for sure see in BC!!  Enter moose, deer, porcupine and rabbit!!  I used a small brad to "pin-point" where we are in BC.  A tag with a bit of journaling, a brad to hold it in place and it was done!!

Happy Birthday

My mom's and my sister in laws birthdays are coming up, so I have to make them cards!!  I saw this sketch at Card Patterns, and there is also a challenge at Sweet Stampin Challenge Blog, girly but no pink, and at 2 Sisters Challenge Blog they have a flower challenge.  Sounds simple enough right??  Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

The stamp is Newspaper Tulips from Hero Arts.  The tulip tips are So Saffron, and the rest is Real Red.  The sentiment, although it looks pink, is not!!  It is stamped in Real Red and I also sponged Real Red onto it.  I used my Stampin Up pearls for a bit of bling.  I used dimensionals to mount the background and the sentiment.  I will probably make a few of these!  It turned out very pretty and they are simple as well!!  :)

Rub a Dub Dub...

I recently discovered the "sport continuous" setting on my camera.  It is so cool!!  I think I will be using it a lot!!  :)  Anyway, I used it taking pictures of my son playing in the tub.  In these pictures he is throwing a ball at the wall.  You can see the progression in the pics.  I saw this sketch at Sketches in Thyme and knew that I wanted to use these pics!!  It just worked out too perfectly!!  Here is the sketch I followed:

And here is my layout:

I used the Stampin Up Framelits for the title area.  The ducky is plastic and something I found in my stash of baby stickers.  Pretty simple!!  :)

Hula Boy Hula Girl

So in March of 2008, hubby and I went to Hawaii and I brought home this cute little hula girl outfit for my daughter.  Fast forward 4 years and I dressed up my son in the same hula skirt and macadamia nut necklace, and here is the page I scrapbooked!!  I followed a sketch, but not sure what magazine it came from.  The background paper looked like sand, and I found two shades of blue that were kind of swirly and reminded me of water.  I also used a beach paper.  I found some chipboard letters and used those for the title.  I also have this little bag of die cuts, and found the palm trees and sun in that.  The pink hula skirt is actually a Barbie skirt that I "borrowed" from my daughter!!  I think it adds a fun touch!

Happy Birthday

I wanted to try another roller skate card, and I have a few girls' birthdays coming up, so this will go to one of them.  I used some purple glimmer paper for the skate, the plain white one was just a little too, well, plain!!  I also used a bigger hole punch and some purple polka dot ribbon for the laces.  Green buttons for the wheels, and a tiny bling on the sentiment.  I am going to enter this card at Creative Inspirations where the challenge is a colour challenge: pastel purple, pastel blue and pastel green.  Here is my card:

It wasn't the best lighting, so the true colours don't show, but I think you get the idea!!

Baby Cards

I have been a mood to make cards lately and that is what I have been doing!!  Trying to build up my inventory!!  :)  I have some baby cards to show you.  I have tons of baby stickers and was trying to come up with a way to use them.  I'm not planning on having any more kids, and there are only so many baby pages you can do, so enter cards!  They are pretty basic. I used Baby Talk for the background, and Baby Firsts.

These are the boy cards...

And these are the girl cards...

Anybody want a card, $2.00 each!!  :)

Roller Skate Birthday

So I wanted to try something a bit different with this card.  I usually don't stray too far out of my box when it comes to the shape of cards, and I saw this, and wanted to try it!!  This is my first attempt, and I don't know that I completely happy with it, but here you go!!

To make the boot, I used the stocking die from Stampin Up.  Used my circle punches for the wheels.  The hardest part of this was threading the laces!!  I used a small hole punch, but wished I had had just a bit bigger one.  Oh well, it all worked out in the end!  I dunno.  It's cute!  I'll probably give it to my neice for her birthday.  I am going to enter this card at Cupcake Craft Challenges where the theme is "spring is in the air".

Happy Birthday

My dad's birthday is at the end of the month, and I needed to make him a card!  I followed the sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches, and because this card has a few layers, I am also going to enter it at Paper Pretties where their challenge is "use lots of layers, 3 or more".    Anyway, here is the sketch:

And here is my take on the sketch.  The card base is 5x5.  I used the Noble Deer stamp set from Stampin Up, and the sentiment is from the Party This Way set. The scallop is a die, and the circle in the middle I hand cut because I didn't have a circle die or punch that was big enough. Note to self: get one!! :)

Thinking of You

Here's a sympathy card I made using the With Sympathy stamp set from Hero Arts and my Stampin Up ink.  I am also entering this card at the 365 Cards blog, challenge #38 So Sorry.

Happy Birthday

So here is a happy birthday card that is perfect for the man in your life!!  The stamp set is Noble Deer from Stampin Up.  The sentiment is from the Party This Way set, which I received free during Sale-a-Bration. The paper was just in my stash, most likely Stampin Up because just about everything I have is!!  I am going to enter this card at One Crazy Stamper, where this months challenge is Boy/Men.  I think this fits the bill!!  :)

Cards!!!

Wow, it has been a while since I have been here!!  Been busy, busy!!  Not sure with what though!!  After I got my Christmas cards done, I kind of burned out, and didn't feel like doing anything paper crafty.  I've made a few cards lately that I'm going to show you.  I had a friend ask to make her a couple of cards, so I will post those and a few others as well!!  :)

So these are the birthday invites I made for my son's 2nd birthday.  The bug stamps are Bugs & Kisses from Stampin' up, and the arrow is from the Party This Way set, which I received free during the sale-a-bration sale.  The grass is a punch, and I used a mini craft stick for the post.  The hardest part of this was the cutting out of the bugs!

A friend that I used to work with recently had a baby boy, and I wanted to send her a card, so this is what I came up with.  The stamps are from the Baby Firsts set.  I used a 1 1/4 square punch, and some baby boy embelishments.  Another simple one!!  :)

I had a friend ask me to make her a couple of cards for 17 year old twin boys, and I just about panicked!!  Male cards are the most challenging to make, then you add teenager??  Yikes!!  Anyway, the truck and tree stamps are from the Loads of Love stamp set, and the presents and little man are from the Loads of Love Accessories set.  You can't tell in the picture, but I also used crystal effects on the windows and tire rims of the truck to give it the glass or window look.  I did two of these cards, just coloured the trucks a bit differently.  I made these cards, and another two with the Noble Deer stamp set, and she chose the other cards, so I will add these to my inventory!!

So these next two cards use the Noble Deer stamp set, and I also made these for the twins, and she chose these two cards.  The Happy Birthday was from the Party This Way set.
